Original wrapper designed by “Phiz,” from Part XIII of Little Dorrit.  With the publication of Little Dorrit, Dickens’s business relations ended with Bradbury and Evans.  Bradbury and Evans refused to publish a notice in “Punch” regarding Dickens’s marital difficulties with Catherine.  Additionally, Bradbury and Evans had a one-quarter interest in “Household Words”, a periodical edited by Dickens.  Upon Dickens’s demand, the periodical was discontinued and its place taken by “All the Year Round” under Dickens’s sole ownership.  Thereafter, Chapman and Hall became Dickens’s principal publishers.
