Original wrapper designed by “Phiz” from Double Number VII and VIII of A Tale of Two Cities.  With the publication of A Tale of Two Cities, Hablot K. Browne’s association with Dickens ended.  In his 1913 biography, Phiz and Dickens, Edgar Browne states that his “father was suffering declining powers as an artist, and seemed to lose interest in illustrating A Tale of Two Cities, many of the plates being carelessly drawn.”
