Three-page autograph letter written by Richard Bentley, addressed “My dear Sir,” and signed “Sincerely yours.”  The letter is written to Charles Kean, the famous actor and son of the Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean.  In this letter, Bentley congratulates Kean on his triumphant reception in New York.  He says that he hopes Kean intends to give the public a narrative of his travels, and that, if Kean decides to write such a work, it would be “greeted with great welcome here.”  He goes on to say that inasmuch as he has already published an account of Kean’s life, he will be given the opportunity to negotiate with Kean for the publication of a book of travels, if Kean decides to write one.
