Four-page autograph letter dated July 14th, 1857, addressed “My Dear Sir,” and signed by Wilkie Collins.  The letter is written to the photographer Herbert Watkins, Esq.  In this letter, Collins thanks Watkins for some photographs, and complements him on their excellence.  He also deplores the reproduction of a Watkins photograph that had recently appeared in “The News.”  Collins, the author of many popular novels, including The Moonstone and The Woman in White, was a member (along with Dickens) of the Guild of Literature and Art, and was in the cast of the Guild’s production Mr. Nightingale’s Diary.
