Portrait with facsimile signature of Leigh Hunt at the age of 66.  Hunt was acquainted with Thomas Powell.  Hunt was an essayist, publisher of literary journals, and poet.  He had a tempestuous career, once being jailed for two years for libel against the Prince Regent.  Despite his success as a writer, he was improvident and constantly in financial difficulties.  For the purpose of paying Huntís debts, Dickens assembled his group of amateur actors and staged several performances of Every Man in His Humour for Huntís benefit.
