One page autograph letter, on Toole’s Theater stationery, dated May 17, 1886. The letter is addressed “Dear Walter,” and is signed “J. L. Toole.”  In his chapter on “Presentation Copies” in his Bibliography, Eckel lists a presentation copy of Master Humphrey’s Clock, presented to J. P. Harley, who afterward gave it to John L. Toole, another actor.  In this letter, Toole accepts an invitation to dinner and invites the addressee to come see a play at Toole’s theater.
