One page autograph letter dated July 8th, 1878, addressed “Dear Sir” and signed “W. H. Frith.”  The letter seeks to arrange an appointment.  Frith was an artist who painted a well-known oil of Dickens.  It was probably Judge Patterson’s intention to associate this letter with the reproduction of a portrait of Dickens that, as with other portraits in the archive, does not carry an Eckel page number.
